Randy’s Two-Minute Intro

29 years in ministry as Music Arts Pastor in churches ranging in size from 175 - 6,000. Last church (retired one year ago) was The People’s Church, Franklin, TN. Survived and lived to tell about 3 church worship transitions…the bloodiest by far was at TPC in the years 2000-2003.

Married to my childhood sweetheart Chris for 28 years, two girls, 24 and 21 (both are artists) and a maltese named Taffy. Live in our bohemian dream home “La Maison du Reves” in the historic downtown district of Franklin on Main St. one block from Starbucks.

Started a multi-platform career path while still full-time ministry in 1996.

So now, I speak and consult to church and corporate influencers focusing on creativity, technology and the arts. I have what has become one of the world’s largest blogs, “Ethos”. I paint watercolors, run marathons, climb mountains, travel, write books, host an annual thinktank, invest in real estate and serve on the board of a Forbes Magazine Celebrity 100 company, incubate businesses and- arguably the most fulfilling thing I do is mentor a wonderful group of artists (some of whom you would know) for the past seven years.

Scariest moment: Would be A tie between being dropped by a bush plane into the Kodiak Island Alaska Wilderness and entertaining over 30 different grizzlies in my campsites with only a tent and a raft for a week AND the worship transition at The Peoples Church for a fateful six month period.

Most memorable moments: My marriage, giving my daughter away at her wedding and summiting 14, 000 plus ft. Mt. Columbia in Colorado.

My life work and the reason I retired, uh, retooled: To build a L’Abri for artists of all genres who 15 at a time collaborate with each other and a master teacher in a pristine 124 acre wilderness haven while living in environmentally friendly and rustically elegant (think Vail Ritz-Carlton) log and slate cabins. It is called Kalein, the greek word for beauty, and it is in its formative process as we speak.
